We are pleased to announce the official launch of the EDIGIT project, following the successful first in-person meeting held at the Information and Communication Technologies Research Center (CITIC) of the University of A Coruña (UDC) on 21-22 January 2025. The meeting brought together the partnership with representatives from various European countries including Hungary, Italy, the Czech Republic, and Spain, marking the beginning of the project’s work.
EDIGIT –Education and Digital Literacy to Grow Inclusive Talents– is the international version of the Talentos Inclusivos project, and it aims to increase the participation of people with disabilities in the digital transition, promoting inclusive approaches to teaching STEM education (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). Through this European project, we will equip educators with the necessary skills to develop inclusive initiatives in these educational fields.
During the two-day meeting, the project partners worked together to define the core methodological and pedagogical framework that will guide the development of the project’s educational materials. This is part of a wider effort to create accessible and inclusive educational resources for both teachers and students in a digital context. Discussions also focused on identifying the key competences, structuring the training modules, and determining the digitisation requirements to ensure that the content is accessible and effective.
Ultimately, the EDIGIT project is committed to providing high quality training that not only improves the digital literacy of educators, but also ensures that STEM education is an inclusive and accessible experience for everyone.
The consortium, led by CITIC, includes six other institutions from five different countries: Academia José Moreira da Silva (Portugal), Kezenfogva Osszefogas A Foyatekosokert Alapitvany (Hungary), Gymnázium Jiřího Gutha-Jarkovského (Czech Republic), ASPACE Coruña (Spain), Polo Europeo della Conoscenza – IC Bosco Chiesanuova (Italy), and On Projects Advising SL (Spain).
We are excited to continue this journey and look forward to seeing its positive impact on the inclusion of people with disabilities in the digital world.
