EDIGIT presents its approach to inclusive STEM education at EDUCA 2026

On 24 October, EDIGIT took part in the EDUCA World Education Congress in Santiago de Compostela, Spain. Irene Brage and Javier Pereira presented our project during the conference Talentos Inclusivos: A project for educational inclusion in schools.

The ninth edition of EDUCA was held on 23 and 24 October and brought together more than 500 people from the education sector. Teachers from different stages of education attended alongside other education professionals, university and vocational education students, school managers, counsellors and psychologists.

The congress provided a multidisciplinary setting in which participants could share research, teaching experiences and practical approaches to improving education. During their presentation, Irene Brage and Javier Pereira explored how science, technology and collaborative work can support educational inclusion in schools.

The session introduced the experience of Talentos Inclusivos, a project promoted by the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology and developed by CITIC at the Universidade da Coruña and ASPACE Coruña. This initiative provides the methodological foundation for EDIGIT and its work in the European education context.

During the conference, Irene and Javier explained how EDIGIT builds on this experience to help reduce the digital divide and support the inclusion of people with disabilities, particularly people with cerebral palsy.

At EDIGIT, we are currently developing a structured methodology and a web platform to help educators introduce these approaches into their STEM teaching. These resources are intended to give teachers practical support for addressing accessibility and the diverse needs of learners from the early stages of education.

Taking part in EDUCA allowed us to present this work directly to members of the education community and exchange experiences with professionals working across different educational stages and disciplines. It also provided a relevant setting in which to discuss how inclusive teaching practices can be applied in schools and shared across national and European contexts.

Looking ahead, we will continue working with the education, disability support and technology sectors to promote a more accessible and inclusive digital transition. Visit our website and follow EDIGIT on Facebook and LinkedIn to keep up with our latest activities, resources and project updates.
